According to the 2020 top 50 pizza rankings released on Wednesday, Caserta near Naples has the best pizzerias in the world.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the southern city has received the highest evaluation of the pizzeria. But this year’s top spot, Francesco Martucci’s I Masanielli restaurant surpassed the pizzerias of the previous three years, namely Franco Pepe’s Pepe.The latter ranked second this year. I Tigli of Simone Padoan in Verona is third. The latter won the Pizza of the Year Award.
Top Pizza 50 stated that this is the first and most important online guide for pizzerias in Italy and the rest of the world.
Campania in the surrounding area of Naples has 16 pizzerias in this year’s ranking, followed by Lazio, Lombardy and Tuscany, with 6 and Veneto There are 4, 2 each in Piedmont, Sardinia and Sicily, 1 each in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Marche and Puglia Region.
Top 50 Pizza is also ranked as the best pizzeria in Japan, Canada, Asia and Oceania.
Among the top awards, there are Pizzeria (Nagoya, Japan), Spanish Pizzeria (Canada), Napoleon Restaurant (Hong Kong) and 400 Grady (Australia). The latter also won the Best Neapolitan Pizza Award outside of Italy.
