With incredible natural swimming pools carved on lava, beautiful cliffs overlooking the sea and charming towns, it’s no wonder that Madeira is repeatedly regarded as Europe’s top island destination.

Located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Madeira is a volcanic island about 300 miles west of Morocco. These islands have cliffs that stretch out into the Atlantic Ocean. The scenery is spectacular. The average temperature in Madeira ranges from 70 degrees Fahrenheit in summer to 62 degrees Fahrenheit in winter. In other words, it always feels like a pleasant spring.

There are natural lava pools all over the island. The bathrooms in Porto Moniz are a series of popular attractions, which seem to be a series of gorgeous natural swimming pools fused into the ocean.
