Italy: Hundreds of tourism companies shut down due to pandemic

The Federturismo Confindustria, the Italian Travel and Tourism Federation, urges the Italian government to speed up the national vaccination campaign and issue certificates to those who are vaccinated.

The Federation admitted in a press release that it is fully aware of the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic and the inevitable containment measures that Italian citizens must follow.

However, the federation pointed out that after 10 months of inactivity, the Italian tourism industry must be restarted at least at the end of spring, and therefore asked the government to find a solution compatible with the economic sustainability of the 380,000 companies employing 4 million employees.

“In this sense, we hope to speed up the national vaccination campaign and create a proof that will enable vaccinated citizens to start moving and traveling, possibly through government agreements or through a coalition of Europeans.”, the press release wrote, noting that hundreds of tourism companies are closing down due to the pandemic.
