Portugal: Lisbon approves financial support for taxi drivers

The Lisbon Council has announced a support fund for the taxi industry in the city.

During the lockdown period, taxi drivers will be entitled to a direct subsidy of 500 euros to compensate for the loss of fares due to the pandemic, which is mainly due to the decline in tourism and mandatory domestic work.

For each taxi registered in the city of Lisbon, two professionals can be supported.

The Portuguese General Administration of Health (DGS) stated that since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 11,000 patients have died of Covid-19, and more than 668,000 new coronavirus infections have been reported so far.
