Spain: Negative coronavirus test mandatory for Balearic Islands arrivals

The Balearic Islands government announced that travelers from other parts of Spain must prove that they have tested negative for the coronavirus.

Starting from March 4 (Thursday), if domestic tourists leave the area and their cumulative incidence exceeds 100 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents, they must show a negative PCR test.

Previously, negative PCR was only required when traveling from areas with a cumulative incidence of 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This means that currently, only citizens of Extremadura, La Rioja and Murcia can travel to Balearic without proving their COVID-19 status Islands.

While disclosing the applicability of the measure, President Francia Armengol also expressed the hope that Balearicians will become one of the first regions in Spain to try COVID-19 passports.
