Austria: COVID tests required for unvaccinated travelers from 3 countries

Travellers from three European Union nations – the Netherlands, Spain, and Cyprus – who haven’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 and haven’t recently been infected with the virus will need to provide confirmation of COVID-19 test results when they arrive in Austria.

“As of 3 August, the following extra entry restrictions apply to visitors from the Netherlands, Spain, and Cyprus entering Austria: Guests who have not been completely vaccinated or who cannot verify a prior illness within the last 90 days must present a PCR test (not older than 72 hours),” according to the Austrian Official Travel Portal. An antigen test is not adequate.

A tourist is considered vaccinated just 22 days after their first dosage for a period of 90 days from the vaccine date, according to Austrianofficials. The validity of the traveller’s evidence of vaccination for travel is prolonged for additional 270 days after the second dosage is taken.

A certificate of prior infection, on the other hand, must fulfill the following conditions in order to be eligible for admission into Austria for visitors from the Netherlands, Spain, and Cyprus:

It must show that the traveller has been infected with COVID-19 during the past 90 days.

The document has to be issued within 14 days of the initial diagnosis or beginning of symptoms.

Before the certificate is given, it must indicate that the travelers have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours.

It should also demonstrate that, notwithstanding a positive test result, the certificate holder poses no significant epidemiological risk.

If you arrive in Austria from one of these three countries without confirmation of vaccination, recovery, or a test, must undergo a PCR test at the airport right away.
