Belgium eases restrictions on UK travelers

Authorities announced that as of Friday, November 26, double testing would no longer apply to fully vaccinated British citizens traveling to Belgium

According to the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCO), vaccinated arrivals from the UK now can enter Belgium by presenting one of the following documents:

72 PCR test arrival performed 2 hours ago or Antigen (RAT) test performed 24 hours before departure or on the day of arrival. Enjoyed this post? Never miss out on future posts by following us.

This means that fully vaccinated British people are required to be tested for COVID 19 one, two, or seven days after arrival, meaning that the vaccine they administer has been approved by the Belgian health authorities.

Arrivals must also complete a Passenger Tracking Form (PLF), including those who have been in the country for less than 48 hours.

In addition, for unvaccinated Britons arriving in Belgian territory, the entry rules remain the same, as shown in the following list:

Passengers must present documents proving the reason for the trip (required travel certificate) Complete PLF before arrival

Perform a PCR test prior to arrival, or a RAT test one day before departure or on the day of arrival 10 days of self-quarantine

A PCR or RAT test on days 1 and 7 of quarantine

Whether or not the quarantine can be terminated early can be determined from the test results collected on the 7th day.

Compared to some EU countries, Belgium still uses a color-coded system and visitor entry requirements apply depending on the recently enrolled COVID 19-positive cases in the country of departure. The United Kingdom is now considered the red arrival zone of Belgium, an epidemiologically high-risk country.

In addition, since Belgium is not a high-risk region since October 4, when the UK government abolished the color-coded travel system, entry requirements for travelers from Belgium have been relaxed. In other words, unvaccinated travelers from Belgium must comply with the following rules:

Get a COVID-19 test 72 hours before arriving in the UK

Book, pay and receive two PCR tests (2nd and 8th day of arrival)

Complete PLF 48 hours before arrival

On the other hand, fully vaccinated travelers from Belgium must book, pay and have a PCR or antigen test done within 48 hours of arrival, in addition to the PLF, which must be done 48 hours prior to arrival in the UK.
