The 187th Oktoberfest will take place in 2022

The Oktoberfest will return in 2022 after a two-year hiatus due to corona (2020, 2021). Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter made the announcement at a news conference on April 29, 2022.

The Wiesn tapping will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The world’s largest folk festival will then be reopened by Reiter with the traditional “O’zapft is!”

Other typical Wiesnwirte events, such as the Wiesnwirte parade onto the festival grounds, the enormous procession of traditional costumes and marksmen on the first Sunday of Oktoberfest, the stand-up concert under the Bavaria, and the firework firing, are all on the schedule.

Every year, the Oktoberfest is held on the Theresienwiese, Munich’s largest fairground. It is ornamented, or rather overlooked, by an 18-metre-high bronze Bavaria statue, whose steps are ideal for taking a respite from the noise and bustle of Oktoberfest.

The fairground, which also hosts the Spring Festival and Winter Tollwood at other times of the year, is located in the heart of Munich, just southwest of the city center. recommends entering “Theresienwiese” or “Bavariaring” for navigation using the online map. However, it is preferable to use public transportation.

“Theresienwiese,” “Goetheplatz,” and “Schwanthalerhöhe” are the closest subway stations; “Hackerbrücke” is the S-Bahn station from which you can walk to Oktoberfest the quickest.
