People will not be able to get vaccinated for COVID-19 in any area of Italy while on vacation this summer, according to Regional Affairs Minister Mariastella Gelmini.
There have been proposals for a system that allows individuals to get vaccinated outside of their home region, particularly for second vaccinations, so that Italy‘s vaccination program does not slow down over the summer vacations.
“It will not be feasible to be vaccinated while on vacation throughout Italy,” Gelmini told RAI radio.
“However, if there are regions that can accomplish this in addition to adhering to the (national vaccine) plan, that is good.”
According to the health ministry, there have been 4,147 new cases of COVID-19 across Italy in the previous 24 hours, with 171 additional casualties.
On Wednesday, there were 3,937 new cases and 121 new casualties. The optimism rate has increased by 0.2 percent, from 1.5 to 1.7 percent.
Intensive care cases decreased by 72, while hospital admissions decreased by 411, bringing the total to 7,707, far below the 8,000 threshold.
Since the outbreak began, there have been 4,205,970 cases reported, with 125,793 deaths.
