From January 25, all French students have the right to pay only one euro for meals. This discount is valid regardless of the student’s entitlement to the scholarship and can be obtained at every cafe or university restaurant in the Crous-University and Student Affairs Center network.
This measure was naturally proposed in the context of the coronavirus pandemic and aims to eradicate poverty among young people, who are particularly hard hit by the corona crisis.
French President Macron promised all college students two meals a day, one euro, to help them cope during the blockade.
Before the adjustment, the price of Crous‘s meal was 3,30 euros, more than three times higher. Therefore, this measure is part of the country’s efforts to respond to the social and economic impact of the pandemic.
