Israel and Greece have been negotiating an arrangement under which Israelis who have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine will be able to visit Greece in the coming months.
It is expected that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit Israel on Monday and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism plans to also come to meet with Israeli counterparts.
An Israeli government official said: “One of the things we hope to discuss will be Greece’s acceptance of Israel’s vaccination documents, which will enable Israelis to visit Greece.”
It will also allow vaccinated Greek citizens to visit Israel. Israel’s “Green Passport” document also applies to people who have recovered from the coronavirus and have antibodies.
The official said that once the agreement is signed, it is not expected to take effect immediately because the level of effectiveness of the vaccine is still being studied.
