Portugal: Big companies continue to have more men on management boards

According to a study released Wednesday by consulting firm Mercer, men continue to dominate the top managers of Portuguese companies, accounting for 85% of the members of management and supervisory bodies.

According to this study, although the leadership position of men has slightly diminished since 2017, the number of women in leadership positions is still underrepresented, indicating an imbalance between the appointment of men and women to these positions.

This study is based on the participation of 55 companies in Portugal. The study pointed out that the fixed salary of men is on average 20% higher than that of women.

It added that if variable compensation is included, the imbalance still exists, expanding to 30%.
