Tourist numbers to Montenegro down in November

The Bureauof Statistics reported that due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the response measures taken, the number of tourists to Montenegro was still low in November.

The country reported its first coronavirus case in March 2020 and banned all tourists from travelling as part of measures aimed at curbing the spread of the disease.

These measures immediately hit one of the most important sectors of the Montenegrin economy, tourism, which is expected to shrink GDP by 9% to 12% in 2020.

The Bureau of Statistics reported that the total number of tourists in Montenegro in November was 8089, a year-on-year decrease of 85.5%. In the 11th month of this year, the total number of foreign tourists in the country was only 5,036.
