Assoturismo and Confesercenti said that 2020 is the worst year for the Italian tourism industry since 1969.
They affirmed that the COVID crisis wiped out 240 million tourists, a 55% reduction. The hotel industry was hit hard, with consumer spending losses of about 50 billion euros.
According to the report, the holiday ban has caused the loss of 3.5 million Italian and foreign tourists.
It said that in the past 12 months, overnight accommodations for Italian tourists have lost approximately 83.6 million, and accommodations for foreign tourists have lost 157.1 million.
