Spain to welcome British tourists by March next year

Spain’s latest tourism plan hopes to welcome the British by March next year, without travel restrictions or isolation. Except for the Canary Islands, which do not require quarantine, the country is currently not on the list of UK travel corridors.

All entrants must undergo a negative coronavirus test 72 hours before travel before entering the country, and many of them complain that they spend more than their holidays. However, the Spanish authorities hope that these restrictions will no longer be needed by the spring of 2021, especially for the Balearic Islands.

Iago Negueruela, Minister of Island Tourism, explained that safe tourism should start at the “end of March” and added: “But first, there is a task to locate, sell and explain to people that these islands are safe destinations to the world.”

It has been one of the worst-hit European destinations, with nearly 1.7 million coronavirus cases, second only to France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Majorca and Ibiza are the favorite holiday destinations of British tourists, but since Spain was removed from the travel corridor list earlier this year, Majorca and Ibiza have become unpopular.

Thanks to the release of vaccines, bookings on these islands have skyrocketed-Majorca’s holidays have increased by 30%. In order to meet demand, the travel agency also opened a package holiday to Spain in the summer of 2021.
