After being voted as the best beach destination in Europe for the seventh time a few weeks ago, the Algarve has now been chosen as “the world’s leading beach destination” in the 2020 World Travel Awards, ahead of Miami Beach, Gala Pagos Islands and Cancun.
The winners of the awards announced last Friday that Portugal has taken home 14 coveted travel “Oscars”, a three-fold increase from last year.
Madeira was voted “the world’s leading island destination”, while Lisbon was dubbed “the world’s leading urban leisure resort”. But this list continues.
In the Algarve, Vila Joya of Albufeira was crowned the world’s leading fine dining hotel restaurant, Conrad Algar of Quinta do Lago Conrad Algarve is hailed as the world’s leading luxury leisure resort, and Dunas Douradas in Almancil has been named the world’s leading golf and villa resort.
Elsewhere in Portugal, Dark Sky Alqueva was selected as the world’s leading tourism development project, L’AND Vineyards was selected as the world’s leading wine region hotel, Passadiçosdo Paiva was selected as the world’s leading adventure tourism destination, and Olissippo Lapa Palace was selected The world-class classic hotel and the Parques de Sintra (Parques de Sintra), which have been awarded titles, have been praised by the world’s leading nature conservation companies.
