Greek health officials announced on Friday that there were 271 new Covid-19 cases and 5 new deaths in the country. These figures follow the rising trend of the number of Covid cases in Greece. The number of cases increased from 259 on Thursday.
There were 6 deaths on Thursday. Of the 271 cases on Friday, 26 cases were found only at the Greek border after testing tourists. The state of Zakynthos and Lesvos and the Imasya region near Thessaloniki will take emergency measures to stop the spread of the virus.
This is a response to the increase in the number of cases in these areas. Measures in Zakynthos and Lesvos include bans on crowded events such as parties and outdoor markets, mandatory use of masks in indoor and outdoor spaces, and limits on the number of customers in restaurants, bars and cafes.
These venues will also be closed from midnight to 7 am. In Imathia, a space can only gather up to 50 people, and bars and restaurants must remain closed from midnight to 7 am.
