In the presence of the Hellenic Republic President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni and Onassis Foundation Chairman of Antonis Papadimitriou, the new lighting system of the Acropolis was unveiled.
The new lights of the Acropolis were streamed live on the website digitalculture.gov.gr of the Ministry of Culture on the YouTube channel of the Onassis Foundation, and also broadcast live by the public broadcaster ERT1.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Culture, this is the first in a series of projects aimed at comprehensively upgrading the infrastructure and services of the Acropolis. Both projects are funded and implemented by the Onassis Foundation.
The internationally renowned lighting designer Eleftheria Deko, who won the EMMY Award, was selected to participate in this difficult project. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Culture, this new study used intensity gradients and white shaded lighting gradients between the interior and the interior of the monument to highlight its architectural elements and enhance its perception of relief, depth and plasticity.
