According to French art news network, Atrnet, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that French cultural institutions will be reopened in two stages.
Macron said in a televised speech that culture is “essential to our lives as free citizens.” He explained that French art galleries, bookstores, record shops and libraries will reopen on November 28.
Larger institutions, including museums, monuments and theaters, will reopen on December 15. The curfew at 9 pm will be held indefinitely; there will be exceptions for theater audiences on their way home, if they are stopped by the police, they will be required to show their tickets.
Curfews are still the focus of controversy. Art professionals in many fields have pointed out that curfews have always plagued evening shows.
