Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte warned people not to gather to shop and celebrate Christmas on Friday, as the COVID surge is expected during Christmas.
He said spirituality is a private matter and should not be collectively flagged. . The prime minister said: “We will consider the epidemiological curve in December, but we cannot just associate Christmas with shopping, gifts and economic promotion.“
“Christmas, regardless of your religious beliefs, is undoubtedly a time for private spiritual worship. “It is not a good thing to have private spiritual reflection with many other people.”
Regional Affairs Minister Francesco Boccia said on Thursday that Christmas should only be celebrated among the “closest family members.”
