Italy: Occupancy rate hotels falls in 9 months

ISTAT said on Tuesday that due to COVID-19, the occupancy rate of tourist hotels in Italy from January to September was halved compared to the same period last year.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, this number is 50.9% lower than in 2019, and a drop of nearly 192 million. It said that this is consistent with the European presence.

According to ISTAT, the number of foreigners in Italian art cities has decreased this year. In the first three quarters of 2020, the number of registrations in Art City decreased by about 72.3%.

Overall, the number of foreign tourists has dropped by 68.6% from 190 million in 2019. According to ISTAT, travel in Italy has decreased by 59% and holiday travel has decreased by 23%.
