According to managing company Fraport Greece, Covid-19 caused a decrease in passenger traffic through 14 regional airports in Greece by 71.4 percent in 2020 compared to 2019.
More specifically, according to data provided by the company, 14 Greek airports handled only 8,611,780 passengers in 2020, compared to 30,150,737 in 2019.
Domestic travel decreased by 62.1 percent, while international traffic fell by 74.2 percent, driven by travel restrictions due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Skiathos Airport saw the largest annual drop in passenger traffic of 80.1% from 2019 levels, followed by Kavala Airport by 77.5%, Chania (-76.4%), Zakynthos (-76.2%) , Kefalonia and Santorini (-75.1%) and Aktion (-74.2%).
