Portugal: Boom in UK nationals demand for residence permits

The Service for Foreigners and Borders (SEF) said on Monday that under the withdrawal agreement (Brexit), about 18,000 British citizens living in Portugal have applied for new residence permits online through the Brexit portal. 

 


The SEF said in a statement that in the past three weeks, about 18,000 applications for residence permits were made through the new Brexit portal (brexit.sef) launched on December 14 in cooperation with the British Embassy. .pt) proposed. In Lisbon. 

 

According to SEF, the new residence card for British citizens will be issued soon, and the resident status will be confirmed in accordance with the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement, so as to ensure the protection of rights after the transition period on December 31.
