Greece: Government to introduce a special visa for remote workers

The Greek government plans to introduce a special visa for digital nomads that will allow international personnel engaged in remote work to work in Greece

According to SchengenVisaInfo, a mutual agreement was reached between the Greek Migration and Foreign Affairs ministers to help workers in remote areas overcome this new innovative trend, and this plan will soon be realized.

“We must create an organized and attractive environment for people who choose this advanced way of working,” Notis Mitarachi, Minister of Migration and Asylum, noted in this regard. The minister said that digital nomad visas can be combined with tax incentives to attract permanent investment.

Alex Patelis, chief economic adviser to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, emphasized that one of Greece’s strengths is “a strong currency, the security of the euro and the EU’s institutional framework.”
