Italy has lost more than 77K stores in 9 years

 

Retail group Confcommercio said that since 2012, Italy has lost more than 77,000 stores and the city centers have become a “desert.” 

 


Confcommercio said it was down 14%. It pointed out that nearly 14,000 street and tourism businesses were also lost, a decrease of 14.8%. 

 

According to the report, the overall retail business fell by 17.1%, while the accommodation and hotel industry fell by 24.9%. 

 


The association said that due to the COVID emergency, it expects the tourism industry to “collapse” further this year.
