ISTAT said on Friday that compared with 2019, retail sales in 2020 fell 5.4% in value terms and 6.2% in volume terms.
In December 2020, Italian retail sales fell 3.8% year-on-year and 5.8% from the previous month. The Italian retail sales year-on-year growth data is updated monthly from January 2001 to December 2020, with an average growth rate of 0.5%.
The data reached a record high of 5.1% in February 2001 and a record low of -27.9% in April 2020.
CEIC calculates retail sales growth based on the monthly retail trade index. The retail trade index provided by the National Bureau of Statistics is 100 in 2015.
In the latest report, Italian car sales reached 2,131,916.0 in December 2019, an increase of 0.5%.
