The Greek Minister of Tourism Harry Theoharis said on the opening day of the ITB Berlin 2021 virtual event that Greece is eager to open to tourists before May 14 this year. “We are updating last year’s health agreement to take into account the accumulated experience of the previous year. Taking these agreements into account, we hope to open them by May 14.”
Theoharis said at an online press conference held at the Acropolis Museum in Athens that the government plans to phase out Covid-19 restrictions before the opening date of May 14 based on health considerations.
”For example, we plan to test our health program with the European Union and other highly vaccinated countries such as Israel in early April,” the Minister of Tourism said, though, adding that – at present – all dates are indicative.
The minister pointed out that Greece is ready to welcome tourists with a complete agreement in the summer of 2021. Theoharis said: “If a tourist is vaccinated before traveling and the antibody or test result is negative, then they will be welcomed.”
According to the country’s EVA program, all tourists entering Greece will be subjected to random tests similar to last year. This is the creation of the AI screening and testing program in Greece, with the purpose of examining the entry of Covid-19 tourists through all entry points in the country.
In addition, the minister said that, like last year, Greece will provide tourists with all health needs related to Covid-19, including hospitalization.
