Mario Draghi, the Italian prime minister, has stated that he expects 80 percent of the Italian population to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the autumn.
“The government believes that the goal of vaccinating 80% of the population by autumn is feasible,” according to a study to parliament submitted by Draghi and Economy Minister Daniele Franco at Thursday’s cabinet meeting, which also accepted the DEF economic roadmap and a 40 billion euro budget aim deviation.
According to the Italian Health ministry, 15,943 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, with 429 people dying as a result of the coronavirus.
It said there were 3,366 COVID-19 patients in Italy’s intensive-care units on Thursday, down 51 from the previous day. It said there were 24,743 COVID patients in other hospital wards on Friday, down from 8,443 on Thursday.
As stated by the Health ministry, 327,704 COVID tests were performed in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 4.8 percent, compared to 319,633 tests and a positivity rate of 5.3 percent on Thursday.
