Greece will vaccinate all people living on its islands

In order to draw foreign visitors this summer, Greece has agreed to completely vaccinating all people on nearly 100 of its islands by the end of June.

This is a departure from the country’s national vaccination policy, which prioritizes people based on their age and medical susceptibility to the coronavirus.

Rhodes, Corfu, Zante, Kefalonia, Santorini, and Mykonos are among the Greek islands that will be vaccinated by the end of June.

“This plan seeks to help local communities as well as their economies,” said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. My point is simple. We have reopened our doors.

“I am overjoyed that Greece will reopen its tourist industry later this week.

“Every care is being taken to ensure the welfare and protection of our guests and residents.”

When the ban on people traveling between regions is lifted on Saturday, Greece will reopen for tourism.

So far, over a quarter of the Greek population has been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, the world has seen 364,000 outbreaks of the virus, with over 11,000 deaths.
