“We can intensify our fight to overcome this difficult season,” Italian health minister Roberto Speranza posted on Twitter Wednesday.

Last week, the government’s covid-19 commissioner General Francesco Paolo Figliuolostated, “From 3 June, all areas will be allowed to open up to all age groups (over 16).”

The Italian drug regulator (AIFA) authorized the Pfizer-BioNtech coronavirus vaccine for 12 to 15-year-olds earlier this week, prompting Italy to step up its immunization campaign.

Pfizer’s covid vaccination for children aged 12 to 15 has been approved in Italy.

Until previously, Italy prioritized the elderly and divided immunizations by age groups, but starting Wednesday, regional health officials will be allowed to schedule appointments for all individuals.

However, because local health authorities oversee each location, the technique and age priority will vary widely across the country.

According to Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore, the Emilia Romagna area surrounding Bologna would prioritize 12-15 year olds, the Lombardia area surrounding Milan will focus on the 12-29 age bracket, while the Lazio area near Rome would maintain its AstraZeneca “open days” for over-18s.

According to the Italian news agency ANSA, Italy expects to receive 20 million anti-covid vaccinations in June, with roughly 2.5 million doses arriving this week in addition to the 3.5 million Pfizer doses previously issued.

As stated by ANSA, around 370,000 Johnson & Johnson dosages were scheduled to arrive in Italy yesterday, with more than 1.7 million Astrazeneca pills anticipated today and around 400,000 Moderna doses anticipated Friday.

According to the most recent figures released by the government last night, more than 12 million individuals in Italy, or 22% of the population, have finished their immunization cycle, while over 23 million have got their first injection.
