Italy‘s nightclubs will be permitted to reopen by July 10, according to Health Undersecretary Andrea Costa.
The industry has been struck particularly hard by the coronavirus limitations, and there was no way of knowing when the clubs would be permitted to reopen until today.
People would most likely be allowed to join the clubs using the Green Pass certification, which verifies that a person has been vaccinated, has had COVID-19 and recovered or has tested negative for it, and is required for travel inside Europe.
“We will offer a timetable for when the nightclubs will be able to reopen this week,” Costa told RTL 102.5 radio. “This sector is the only one that still does not have a scenario to work with, and I believe the political world is duty-bound to respond.”
“Nightclubs will be able to open by July 10, and I believe the Green Pass requirements may be applied to them as well.”
Since the epidemic hit the country in early 2020, there have been 127,291 fatalities and 4.25 million infections.
COVID-19 patients account for 6% of Italy’s intensive-care beds, with the number of coronavirus patients in ICUs dropping from 688 on June 8 to 504 on June 15. No area has surpassed the crucial level of 30%.
So far, 30% of persons over the age of 12 have been vaccinated, or around 16 million people out of a population of 60 million.
In Italy, about 46 million vaccination doses have been given.
