In the previous three months, almost 1 million foreign visitors visited the South Aegean Region, including Rhodes, Kos, Santorini, Mykonos, and Karpathos, accounting for approximately 92 percent of last year’s total.
The number of arrivals at five of the region’s major airports climbed over the three-month period, according to figures provided by the South Aegean Tourism Initiative, indicating high demand for the Dodecanese and Cyclades islands.
From May 13, when Greece opened to tourists, to the end of July, 1.1 million travelers came in the Dodecanese and Cyclades on 8,000 foreign flights, according to this statistics.
According to estimates and in expectation of peak month August data, the South Aegean Region is seeing its international arrivals approaching total 2020 levels.
