In answer to concerns from the deputies about the eventual committee for monitoring the implementation of the Covid-19 reaction measures, Ourmières-Widener replied, “We can confirm that there will be flights from Porto to New York and to Brazil.”
“The remaining flights will be examined and decisions made on an individual basis. After being questioned about TAP’s recent divestment at Porto airport, the executive chairman responded, “I’m talking about long-haul flights that also help to power the Lisbon hub.”
When asked why Porto Santo, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, was not included in the winter route plan, the official explained that the choice was made based on market research, but that it might be reconsidered if new information becomes available.
“Based on the information we have so far, we will not be able to run this route this winter,” she explained.
