France: PCR tests will no longer be free for tourists

The governmentdecided on July 7 that tests used to identify the COVID-19 will no longer be free of charge for visitors visiting France.

Tourists wishing to leave France will be required to pay €49 for a PCR test or €29 for a Rapid Antigen test.

Residents of the EU and Switzerland, on the other hand, will be entitled for reimbursements.

The country is charging travelers this charge in order to encourage immunization. Despite this, there are concerns that travelers would falsify certificates attesting to negative COVID-19 tests in order to avoid paying the fee.

Travelers who are found guilty of fabricating, selling, or using fraudulent papers face a three-year jail sentence and a €45,000 fine.

The government’s spokesman, Gabriel Attal, cautioned that infection rates with COVID-19 are now increasing in most parts of the nation, despite low hospitalization rates.

On the other side, France’s Tourism Minister, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, stated that while the nation welcomes US citizens, it would not enable French visitors to enter the country free of quarantine and testing procedures once it is placed on the amber list.

Over 35% of France’s entire population has been completely vaccinated, with 52% having gotten at least one vaccination injection.
